Spotlight: Paul Kay, Kollaboration Chicago’s 2014 Winner

Meet our new Kollaboration Chicago champion, Paul Kay!

On July 26th, Paul took the stage with his accompanist and friend, Phil Myung, and captivated the audience with a beautiful acoustic performance of his original piece “Villain” at Chicago’s North Shore Center for the Performing Arts.

Paul is no stranger to music as he’s been singing since the tender age of three and playing guitar since he was fifteen years old.  He cites world-class musicians Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Buckley, and The Cival Wars as some of his musical inspirations, but ask him who his biggest inspiration is and he would say his mother.

Along with a voice and musicality that is perfect for those quiet, meditative types of mornings, Paul is also just a pretty fantastic human being. Humble, down-to-earth, and always ready to share his passion for music – he’s the guy everyone wants to be friends with… But seriously.

Paul currently has an EP in the works and jam sessions live on the YouTube (pkaymusic1), so there are plenty of opportunities to listen for yourself!
