You’ve been hiding under a rock if you haven’t heard about the extremely grand and extremely free Kpop concert that KBS is putting on next month. But just in case you really haven’t: KBS America is hosting a free Kpop concert featuring some of the hottest names in K-pop on April 12 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Sports Arena! Yes, that’s right. F-R-E-E—a bold word that rarely hits the Kpop scene! But even though it’s free, attending the concert will still require a ticket. This information has not been announced yet, but you can stay informed by following LA Kpop Festival on Facebook.
Now, you must be thinking: sure, it’s free, but who’s even showing up? There will be a total of fourteen artists participating in the event. Among the first to be confirmed were: SHINee, 2PM, Girls Day, Dynamic Duo, Kim Taewoo, Sistar, CNBlue, Sul Woondo, and Song Sohee. Others such as Infinite, and Lena Park have also been confirmed to be joining their fellow artists on stage at the festival. Only two more artists are to be confirmed for the show…but I’m sure you don’t need any more convincing.
The concert isn’t the only thing that will be happening at the event; it is a festival after all. The festival will begin at 10:00am with many smaller events throughout the venue for people to enjoy. More information regarding this and concert line-up times will be announced later by the official LA Kpop Festival staff. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Sports Arena is said to hold about 100,000 people, so do expect a big crowd. For those who attended Kcon 2013, the festival will be right next door to the Kcon venue. Please keep in mind that the LA sports arena is a private property, therefore camping out is not allowed.
I look forward to seeing all the Kpop fans at the festival. If you are a big part of any of the fandoms of the groups or individuals attending, check the official event page as you RSVP. You may find some projects you can join to help make your favorite artists feel welcome.
