The official movie trailer to the latest book-to-film adaptation has been released! Written by James Dashner and directed by Wes Ball, the Maze Runner trailer was recently shown on MTV during an episode of Teen Wolf.
The two-minute clip shows the main character Thomas, portrayed by Dylan O’Brien (who’s also in Teen Wolf), first appearing in what seems to be a caged elevator. He is lifted to “the maze,” where he meets dozens of other boys, including Minho, played by a familiar face – Ki Hong Lee! Their mission, it would seem, is to get out of the maze… before time runs out.
The rest of the trailer is packed with suspense and curiosity, as we follow Thomas and his interactions with the other boys in this strange maze. Judging from what’s shown, it’s safe to assume that Minho will be a major character, which is good news for fans of Lee. By the end of the trailer, I was definitely hungry for more.
Fans everywhere flocked to social media to express their excitement over the trailer. At one point, “#TheMazeRunner” was trending on Twitter. The excitement was especially heightened since initially, the film was set to be released earlier this year. Filmmakers delayed the release date to September, as Lee tweeted a few months ago.
Although I was not a huge fan of the book, I’m actually looking forward to this movie, especially for Lee! Be on the lookout for Maze Runner in theaters September 20.
