Kollaboration – a non-profit with annual showcases featuring performances from local Asian-American musicians, dancers, and other miscellaneous talent – is in the midst of preparing for their 15th year of shows. Though it originally began in Los Angeles, it has grown tremendously and now has shows in 14 different cities. Keep up to date with audition information here.
With the tagline of “Empowerment through Entertainment,” the shows seek to be a “global platform to discover, empower and connect the next generation of artists and leaders to mainstream media prominence and change culture.” It has helped numerous up-and-coming Asian-American artists find media exposure and gain a fan following. Founded originally by comedian, Paul “PK” Kim, the show has featured numerous big-name artists such as Far East Movement, David Choi, Kina Grannis, Dumbfoundead, Kenichi Ebina, and Run River North (formerly known as Monsters Calling Home).
